As we do every year, Casa Árabe will be taking part in this celebration, now considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To celebrate it, from May 5 to 18 we will be extending our visiting hours on Monday through Friday, while opening the doors of our courtyards on the weekends, as well. Come and discover the art installation devoted to Palestine.
For yet another year, Casa Árabe is taking part as a non-competing participant in the Courtyards Festival of Cordoba, to be held in the city from May 5 to 18. At this edition, we are expanding our headquarters’ opening times for visitors from Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 to 10:00 p.m.As an exception, on weekends (on the dates of May 10, 11, 17 and 18) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. (on Sunday, May 18 until 8:30 p.m.).
The Casa Mudéjar building consists of a set of five different houses linked together by corridors, passageways and stairwells, with four courtyards (three of which can be visited) and a turret. The original building dates back to the fourteenth century, though most of the current structures are from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. It is located within the southern part of Cordoba’s Historical Center near the Mosque-Cathedral, within the area declared to be a World Heritage Site. Spain’s National Heritage Entity has assigned this historical building to Casa Árabe for use as its headquarters in Cordoba.
For this occasion, visitors will get the chance to enjoy an art intervention titled “Threads of Memory: An open window onto the future of Palestine,” created by artists Almudena and Begoña Castillejo along with Maysun Cheikh Ali Mediavilla as part of the initiative “Art in the Streets.”
