As part of Architecture Week, which in 2025 will be celebrating its twenty-second edition from October 3 to 13, the public will be able to visit the Aguirre Schools building, headquarters of Casa Árabe, designed by architect Emilio Rodríguez Ayuso (1886) and later renovated by Luis Bellido González (1909).

The tours will be held on Friday, October 3, at 12:00 and 1:00 a.m., with no more than 25 participants per session. You can sign up for the activity as of September 23 on this website

This detached building, an outstanding example of Madrid’s Neo-Mudéjar style, has a regular ground floor layout, while the main floor is smaller and U-shaped. This layout allows for better ventilation and natural lighting in the interior spaces. One of the most unique features of the building is its tower, located above the stairwell, made up of three exposed brick sections, topped by a metal glass attic that provides a contemporary-looking visual contrast.

The use of brick as the main material, coupled with ornamental elements typical of the Neo-Mudéjar style—horseshoe arches, friezes, and decorative frames—gives the building a powerful architectural identity. Its volume, composition and wealth of detail make it one of the most representative examples of this style, so characteristic of Madrid architecture in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The COAM Architecture Foundation, the Official Association of Architects of Madrid and the Madrid City Council, with the cooperation of the Municipal Government of Madrid, will be holding the twenty-second annual Architecture Week from October 3 to 13, 2025. On this occasion, Portugal is the guest country, with the participation of the Portuguese Embassy.

COAM’s headquarters will be hosting several exhibitions throughout the week. In addition to courses and conferences, there will be visits to buildings and guided urban tours of great interest and architectural value, children’s workshops, an architects’ design market (Pop Arq Store) and concerts.

Like every other year, various institutions in Madrid—including Casa Árabe—will be joining up during Architecture Week, to organize a wide range of activities related to this discipline.
