In the months of March and April, Casa Árabe is presenting a new series
of films, including two documentaries, two feature films and one
fictional short-subject film.
Different productions and subject matters, all of which just recently premiered. With this new film series, Casa Árabe is continuing its efforts to increase awareness about Arab film productions, scheduling movies which viewers rarely get the chance to see in commercial theaters.

A Syrian Love Story

Films shown in the original language version with subtitles in Spanish.Casa Árabe begins a new film series with the screening of this documentary by Sean McAllister (United Kingdom, 2015, 76 min.).Amer saw Raghda for the first time in prison twenty years ago. Somebody had beat her up, and her face was covered in blood. They started to speak to each other through a small hole they bore into the wall separating their cells. They fell in love, and when they got out of jail, they formed a family. In 2009, Raghda was put back in prison for political reasons, and Amer had to take care of their four children on his own. This exile breaks the couple’s relationship down, driving them into a fragile situation that forces them to choose between love, revolution and family.

by Namir Abdel Messeh (Egypt, France, 2011, 92 min.) Documentary
One fine day, Namir Abdel Messeh, a filmmaker of Egyptian origin, watches a video about how the Virgin Mary has been appearing in Egypt. Like millions of other Copts, his mother sees the Virgin Mary on the screen even though he does not see a thing. Namir decides to return to Egypt to film a movie about these appearances, but he runs up against countless obstacles.

Alan has to do something. He knows that Jalal, who is a huge Real Madrid fan, has made an exclusive pair of typical shoes from Kurdistan and dreams of giving them to Cristiano Ronaldo as a gift.
