From May 19, 2022 until June 12, 2022
MADRID
Casa Árabe headquarters (at Calle Alcalá, 62).

On the occasion of the activities forming part of Casa Árabe’s Thousand and One Nights of the Book Fair, the institution has invited the artist ZETA (Pablo Herrero) to create two murals inspired by the characters in this Middle Eastern literature classic. As of May 25, passers-by will be able to watch the mural being produced day by day.

Casa Árabe has invited the artist ZETA (Pablo Herrero) to create two murals whose main subjects will represent diversity in the Arab world, inspired by some of the most popular characters from The Thousand and One Nights. The murals will be displayed on the institution’s perimeter fences (at the corner of Calle Alcalá and Calle O’Donnell).

This art event forms part of the full schedule of activities which Casa Árabe has organized From May 27 through June 11 to celebrate the Madrid Book Fair, including music, poetry and storytelling, all under the event name “Casa Árabe’s Thousand and One Nights at the Book Fair.”

ZETA’s collaboration with Casa Árabe began more than a decade ago as one of the performers in the Dani Pannullo Dance Theatre company, with which he has had the opportunity to tour many Arab countries, including Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Sudan. He curated and designed the exhibition “Revolution paintings. Graffiti and Arab public spaces,” organized by Casa Árabe in 2011 as a result of the uprisings taking place throughout the Arab world.

On this occasion, Casa Árabe wants to take advantage of its experience in Arab countries to invite you to celebrate their diversity by creating two works that will be unveiled as “Casa Árabe’s Thousand and One Nights at the Book Fair” progresses, to the beat of the stories Scheherazade herself will be telling.

ZETA (Pablo Herrero), Zamora 1970 Zeta began creating graffiti in the mid-eighties, when he produced his first works of street art. Since the beginning of his career, he has developed an artistic language nourished by many different pictorial currents, causing him to undergo constant change over more than three decades. He has collaborated closely and carried out numerous art projects with institutions and art centers around the world, including the Cervantes Institute, AECID, embassies, etc. and, of course, he is a regularly shown artist at the most important events in the world of urban art.
