Challenges of migration for the EU after the Migration and Asylum Pact

On Thursday, February 6, Casa Árabe is hosting this round table
discussion at its headquarters in Madrid, organized by the Universidad
Complutense de Madrid, with the participation of the Universities of
Bologna, Krakow and Louvain, as part of the Winter School of the
UnaEuropa program for inter-university teaching collaboration.
The meeting will be analyzing the challenges faced by European migration policies after the enactment of the New Pact on Immigration and Asylum, the goal of which is to create a framework for managing more effective and flexible immigration, asylum and return policies.
The round table will include participation by Berta Álvarez-Miranda, a professor of Sociology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and a member of the International Migration Study Group, Ruth Ferrero Turrión, a professor of Political Science at the UCM, and also a member of the International Migration Study Group, and Amparo González-Ferrer, senior scientist at the Center for Human and Social Sciences-CSIC and deputy director of the General Directorate of Reception Pathways of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
The round table discussion will be moderated by Claudia Finotelli, a professor of Sociology at the UCM and co-director of the International Migration Study Group.
The round table discussion “After the New Pact of Immigration and Asylum” forms part of the activities at the Winter School “Europe and the World,” on “Current Challenges for the EU: Migrations, Latin America and Climate Change,” with a series of meetings and activities organized by the European University Alliance UNA Europe from February 3 to 7.
