Every year on May 15, Palestinians all across the globe commemorate the “Nakba” in remembrance of the dispersion of the native population of the Palestinian territory, mainly in 1948 as a result of the first Arab-Israeli War. The United Nations estimates that 750,000 Palestinians were forced to leave their homes and means of subsistence at that time, becoming refugees in neighboring countries (Syria, Jordan and Lebanon), as well as East Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
