On the 900th anniversary of the birth of this Cordovan sage, within the framework of the congress titled “Ethics and Aesthetics in Islamic Heritage,” Casa Árabe is organizing this performance by the Eduardo Paniagua Trio in Cordoba on February 12.
The concert is a musical tribute to the cultural richness of Al-Andalus and the relationship between Christian, Jewish and Moorish traditions in the Middle Ages.
The event will provide a journey through historical music linked to Al-Andalus, Cordoba and the medieval Mediterranean, with canticles by King Alfonso X the Wise, jarchas, moaxajas and dances from Al-Andalus, as well as compositions inspired by the Sufi tradition and historical figures such as Ibn Arabi and Abraham Ibn Ezra. The concert also forms part of the tribute to the 900th anniversary of Averroes’ birth.
The event highlights the deep connection between music, thought and spirituality, underscoring the role of courtly and urban spaces—such as castles—as places of creativity and cultural co-existence in medieval Spain.
