La Banda Morisca is a music group with Andalusian flamenco roots from the province of Cadiz, where they give shape to the musical legacy inherited from the numerous cultures that have colonized and enriched this land of musicians, poets and seekers.

The group is made up of musicians of different origins whose common thread is playing music from their roots and tradition, with a concern for experimentation and evoking the cultural heritage of old Al-Andalus and its reflection in the sounds of today’s Andalusia, Maghreb and Middle East.

Inspired by this heritage from Al-Andalus and traditional romance poetry, the group proposes a creative, original view of a repertoire which mixes Eastern and Western Mediterranean influences (moaxajas of Al-Andalus, chaabi, Dahmane el Harachi, Nass el Ghiwane...) with the spirit of traditional flamenco and Andalusian rock (El Chozas, Lole y Manuel, Triana...).

La Banda Morisca includes musicians such as Vincent Molino, Wafir Gibril (both formerly from Radio Tarifa), JoseMari Cala and JuanMi Cabral, a close core group knowledgeable about the secrets and hidden parts of the most traditional flamenco; José Cabral (La Jambre) with a great deal of experience in traditional Andalusian and Mediterranean music; Antonio Torres, an expert instrumentalist and virtuoso performer, and Andrés Tomás Rodríguez.

In 2013, they brought out their first album, which they continue to present all throughout Spain.

Review of the album “La Banda Morisca”:
From the meanderings of mud bogs in the swamps and river shores to the dense sea fog that opens like a veil nearly at the height of the moon. From the place where Atlantis may have been to the borderline of every man’s dreams emerges La Banda Morisca, an amalgam, a mixture of elixirs which offer a unique form of musical psycho-archeology, “pure pneuma” in the atmosphere which surrounds it. In this work, some will be able to feel the sounds of their own blood (Andalusian, Gypsy, Arab, Jewish, universal...). From the beat of love, the melody of faith, brotherhood and destiny.
