Coordenadas Fest is a dance festival which proposes a reconfiguration of stage space, to rethink the relationship between dance, architecture and heritage. In this eighth edition to be held in Madrid, from October 14 to 27, meetings have been proposed to explore the languages of movement and enjoy dance within unique spaces. Casa Árabe is one of them and will be hosting two pieces performed by two different duos: “Más o menos inquietos” by Daniel Abreu and “Bailaban las perolas” by Laura López Muñoz and Pablo Pérez Alonso.
“Más o menos inquietos” (“More or Less Restless”) is a duo work for non-conventional spaces. In every relationship there are always three at play. The bodies move from the fragile to the sinuous. The field is that third element which adheres to two and at the same time contains them. That is the dynamics in this work: playing with the third. The symbol is expressed through a light and subtle charge. Gravity and balance are in interplay. The wind and its musings. The passage of burdens...all from within a poetic atmosphere.
Daniel Abreu, a dancer and choreographer, was born on the island of Tenerife, where his curiosity and interest in physical movement and theatrical expression began. In addition, during his artistic training he earned a university degree in Psychology, which has been very present in his choreographic works through his carefully designed poetic symbolism. As a performer, he has carried out his work in different dance and theater companies and groups on the national scene. As a creator, he has an extensive creative career behind him, including more than sixty productions shown in many countries, where they have been acclaimed by critics and audiences, having received several awards.
“Bailaban las perolas”
What is left behind after a house is demolished?
Who has the keys to this door?
Can I dance with you if you are not there?
I wish those stones could hear the celebration again...
Remove the chairs.
Don’t cry for me.
Take me out to dance.
Laura López Muñoz and Pablo Pérez Alonso make contemporary dance converge with tradition and folklore, while investigating the loss of legacy through the stories left behind by our ancestors. Both are freelancechoreographers and dancers who work with well-known companies and projects both foreign and domestic. Together they have won awards such as the selection by the Acieloabierto Network and the special mention by the jury for the Harria Choreographic Contest (Vitoria). With their project, they have taken part in international festivals such as Cádiz en Danza, Más Danza and Dantza Irian.
