Cultural Diversity and Intercultural Education: Experiences in Melilla

From March 04, 2014 until March 25, 2014

Book presentation
March 18, 2014 - MADRID

The goal of this publication is to study cultural diversity and intercultural education in a specific location; Melilla, but with broader connotations.
Various specialists provide their analysis, experiences and research in a compilation of texts which share in common that they express an appreciation for the paradigm of interculturalism, compared with other models for managing diversity, such as assimilationism or multiculturalism.

Melilla forms a living laboratory in which different cultures mix and interact, in which the intercultural model is defended as a strategic goal by the local public authorities, with a view to preserving and consolidating the people’s co-existence, built on a foundation of equal rights among culturally diverse people and the belief that cultural diversity is always an asset for societies, never a hindrance.

This book was published by GEEPP Ediciones and SATE-STEs Melilla, with the cooperation of the Institute of Cultures of the Autonomous City of Melilla.
