Daby Touré is a Mauritanian performer originally from Boutilimit, who has gained international recognition by conquering stages all over the world with great critical acclaim.

Since he was a child, Daby has been an avid radio listener majorly influenced by bands and artists like The Police, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. He taught himself the basics to play guitar, and from an early age he instinctively felt he should become a musician. This passion was gradually confirmed when he moved to Paris and began showing his talent off on the music scene in Paris, where he founded the duo known as Touré-Touré with his cousin Omar. The two of them produced the album Laddé in the year 2000, receiving rave reviews and leading them to tour Europe and the United States.

This Mauritanian artist stands out for his unique energy and an ethereal, singular voice that accompanies his favorite instrument, the guitar. The music magazine Billboard has praised his work, describing it as music that evokes both modern and traditional ways of life, with notable influences from the contemporary music of Senegal, Mali, Paris and New York, while still remaining rooted in the traditional music of his native Mauritania.

Daby Touré is a child of many cultures, which is why he became a multilingual musician. Touré creates an elegant blend of sounds by creating of fusion with linguistic twists from all six languages he speaks; his music builds bridges between cultures, crossing borders while giving life to a universal language of poetry and sound. At this concert, organized by Casa Árabe as part of the activities we have held about Mauritania this year, Daby Touré will perform solo with his acoustic guitar, presenting the same set he performed on his tour with Peter Gabriel.
