The Day of the Palestinian Land has been celebrated by Palestinians and the diaspora every March 30 since 1976 to call for the end of the confiscation of their lands. Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, who dedicated his work to the Palestinian cause, speaks to us about this in his poem “On This Land”:
ON THIS LAND
There’s on this land what is worth living:
There’s on this land, the lady of lands,
the mother of the beginnings and of the ends.
It was called Palestine. Its name later became Palestine.
My lady: I deserve, since you’re my lady,
I deserve life
Mahmoud Darwish
