Dialogues on the Shores: Conversation with members of the Spanish and Tunisian elite

Taking part will be Meimouna Hached Khabou, a professor in the Spanish
Department at the Humanities School of Manouba University in Tunisia,
and Víctor Morales Lezcano, a historian and professor emeritus at the
UNED.
The dialogue will be presented by Pedro Martínez Avial, the General Director of Casa Árabe.
Early this century, the institutional tandem of the AECID and UNED hosted a project titled “Diálogos ribereños” (“Dialogues on the Shores”), focusing on a series of interviews with notable personages in diplomacy, Hispanic studies, and the political and cultural life of the Maghreb region. The universities of Rabat (Mohamed V) and Tunis (La Manouba) took part in the holding of the interviews and part of the transcription of the oral documents gathered by Víctor Morales Lezcano, then a Contemporary History professor and the director of the archive of oral and graphic sources at the UNED, the university which promoted the publication of “Dialogues on the Shores.”
Now, Meimouna Hached Khabou, from the Spanish Department at the University of Manouba in Tunisia, has brought out the third volume of “Dialogues,” which includes conversations with Spanish members of the world of Arab Studies and Historiography, as well as some of the Spaniards who reside in Tunisia. In other words, the work will be taking place in the opposite direction as the usual method, thereby completing the cross-cutting exercise which was sought out.

Meimouna Hached Khabou
has a PhD in Iberian and Iberian-American Studies from the University of Franche-Comté and is a specialist in twentieth-century history. She teaches the course on Spanish Civilization in the Spanish Department at the School of Letters, Arts and Humanities at Manouba University (Tunisia). She has authored several monographs on Spanish-Tunisian relations in the twentieth century and has had several articles published in scientific journals from both Tunisia and Spain.
Víctor Morales Lezcano
has a PhD in History from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is a historian who studies international relations, with a special focus on the British world and North Africa. He has authored several monographs and published a large number of articles in scientific journals and magazines for the general public on the topics in which he specializes.
