On the occasion of International Women’s Day, two female Spanish women writers will be introducing two Arab women authors
Two Spanish writers with great knowledge about Arab literature will be introducing the literary work and careers of two female contemporary Arab authors to the public. Pilar Salamanca Segoviano will be painting a picture of Palestinian writer Susan Abulhawa (Palestine, 1970), author of the bestseller, Amaneceres en Jenin (Mornings in Jenin, 2010, La Esfera de los Libros). As for Leonor Merino García, she will be presenting the work of Morocco’s Ghita El Khayat (Rabat, 1944), author of more than 350 articles and 30 books, including El fastuoso Marruecos de tradiciones (The Lavish Morocco of Traditions) and Mujer en el mundo árabe (Woman in the Arab World, Icaria Editorial).
This round table discussion, planned on the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8) forms part of the series of activities which the Spanish-Moroccan Cultural Circle is promoting at various cultural centers and institutions, including Casa Árabe. The introduction to the event will be given by Carmen Ruiz Bravo-Villasante, an Arabist and editor of CantArabia.
