Educational program for the 39th Cordoba Guitar Festival

Casa Árabe will be hosting part of the educational program at this
year’s edition of the festival, with master classes to be taught by some
of the most important guitarists in both classical guitar and flamenco
guitar around the world.
David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Ricardo Gallén and Leo Brouwer will be meeting up at Casa Árabe in Cordoba during the Festival to give workshops and courses on interpretation, technique, style and articulation. Likewise, master musician Russell will be giving a course titled “Developing musical interpretation and technique in classical guitar” on July 6 and 7; Manuel Barrueco will be giving a course on interpretation on July 10 and 11, and Cuban master Leo Brouwer will be giving a course of his own on July 12 and 13, with a workshop titled “Styles and articulation.”
As for Ricardo Gallén, he will be teaching a course called “Biomechanical efficiency in classical guitar technique” from July 11 to 13. Similarly, this year we must highlight the inclusion of guitarist Margarita Escarpa in the educational program for the first time ever. She will be running a workshop on July 8 and 9 about controlling the body and emotions, in a public recital.
Last of all, in addition to other events and performers, Casa Árabe will be hosting master classes, with the star of the show being guitarist José María Gallardo del Rey, who will focus his three-hour class on the work “Concierto de Aranjuez.”
