Effects of foreign investment on development in Morocco and Algeria

On Monday, May 27, Casa Árabe will be hosting a presentation of the results of the research project "Foreign Investment and Development in North Africa," about the effects of foreign investment on development in Morocco and Algeria.
The project, of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Real Instituto Elcano, is financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). The objective is to promote dialogue, with the participation of public, private, local and international role-players on the factors and policies which foment development processes though foreign investments in the countries of North Africa.
The event will take place from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Casa Árabe (address: Calle Alcalá, 62) and will consist of the presentation of the case studies on Morocco and Algeria. The opening session will be presided over by Emilio Lamo de Espinosa (President of the Real Instituto Elcano). After his speech, Iliana Olivié (main researcher of Cooperation and International Development, Real Instituto Elcano) and Aitor Pérez (associate researcher) will present the most relevant results. Last of all, Lahcen Oulhaj (Professor of Economics and Dean of the Université Mohamed V in Rabat) and Gonzalo Escribano (Real Instituto Elcano) will make comments on the speeches that have been given.
