Exhibition "Orient Breezes. Spanish Commercial poster (1870-1970)"

From November 19, 2012 until January 07, 2013

Casa Árabe and the Euro Arab Institute Foundation for Education and Training (INSTEA), in collaboration with the Andalusia Heritage Foundation, host in Granada this exhibition, from 22nd November on. It compiles up to a hundred of commercial posters from the period which are related to the attraction and fascination of the Arab Orient as a publicity lure.

It is a representative selection of one of the lesser known areas of the romantic Orientalism applied to commercial publicity, particularly to our unique Al-Andalus Orient which enjoys a special central position.
The exhibition shows original pieces from 1871 to 1964, which make us closer to the aesthetics of the period through some trade marks which today are still well known: beauty products, food, drinks, North African tourism, and so on. And in all of them, the Oriental world is that fantastic place where publicity brings us to.

Exhibition is opened from November 22nd 2012 to January 7th 2013 at Andalusia Heritage Foundation, Ibn al-Jatib Hall at the al-Ándalus and Science Pavillion, at Parque de las Ciencias de Granada (Avda. de la Ciencia s/n). Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 to 19. Closed on Mondays.
