First World Arabic Language Day: How we teach Arabic

Casa Árabe has collaborated to put on this conference, organized by the Fikra Social-Intercultural Association, to be held on December 18 and 19, including several workshops and conferences for Arabic teachers and students.

The Fikra Association has organized this two-day online conference on Arabic language teaching, with the cooperation of several institutions and associations, including the University of Oviedo, the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos I (URJC) and Casa Árabe.

Participating in the event will be Saida Chermiti, head of Casa Árabe’s Arabic Language Center (CLA), through the workshop “A practical class on the use of interrogative pronouns, time and lexical adverbs:  everyday life” and a talk on ”Remote classes at Casa Árabe: techniques, difficulties and challenges” on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively. Also taking part in the event will be Said Kirlani, an Arabic teacher at our Arabic Language Center and the URJC, with a conference titled “Teaching and learning the Arabic language in Spain: the case of schools at mosques,” on December 18 at 5:00 p.m., and the workshop “What kind of Arabic do we want for students in Spain?” on December 19 at 11:30 a.m.

The Fikra Social-Intercultural Association is a social, intercultural, apolitical, non-profit organization, that was founded in Gijón in 2013. Its mission is to support and assist with the process of transforming ideas into shared objectives, placing solidarity and the merging of identities at the service of personal and community-based development. Its main purpose is to eliminate existing social barriers in order to achieve the intercultural coexistence of people, the integration of all community members and social participation through three lines of action: educational, intercultural and community-based development.
