Forum for Spanish-Saudi Youth Dialogue
From June 10, 2013 until June 26, 2013
On the dates of June 17 through 25, a Forum for Spanish-Saudi Youth Dialogue will be taking place in Spain. It will bring together young Saudi students of architecture, business and tourism to talk with their Spanish counterparts about "Preserving and Promoting Architectural Identity."
The objective of this encounter is to share knowledge and technology to create new opportunities for youths from both countries. Through a series of dialogues and visits to governmental organizations, architectural sites and relevant universities, the Saudi students will come into contact with the wealth of Spanish culture and debate over topics of mutual interest.
The program will begin on Monday, June 17, with a visit by the Saudi participants to different Architecture schools (Universidad Europea de Madrid, San Pablo-CEU, Politécnica), as well as Madrid’s Official Architects’ Association.
On Tuesday, June 18, the Forum’s opening ceremony will be held, presided over by Prince Ambassador Khaled bin Saud bin Khaled, advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Gonzalo de Benito Secades, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Madrid, Prince Mansour bin Khalid al-Farhan al-Saud and the General Director of Casa Árabe, Eduardo López Busquets. The event will be held at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid (at Calle Alcalá, 62), and entrance to the event is restricted. That very evening a talk will be held amongst the Spanish and Saudi participants at Madrid’s Official Architects’ Association.
One day later, on Wednesday, June 19, the Saudi youths will be visiting INJUVE, the Youth Institute, of the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Affairs and Equality, where they will be welcomed by its Director General, Rubén Urosa.
On Thursday, June 20, the Forum participants will be paying a visit to the University of Castile- La Mancha in Toledo, where they will take part in another gathering with Spanish participants. On Friday, June 21, the delegation will be visiting Cordoba, and on June 23, it will be traveling to Granada.
The last two stages of the Forum will be taking place on Monday, June 24, when the Saudi participants will visit the IE Business School, and on Tuesday, June 25, the day when the closing ceremony will be held, in an event which will include participation by Isabel María Borrego Cortés, the Secretary of State for Tourism of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism; Jesús Manuel Gracia Aldaz, Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Iberian American of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and Yousef al-Saadoun, the head of the Saudi delegation.
