From Saladdin to Scheherazade: Orient in comic

From April 07, 2010 until May 16, 2010

This exposition, organized by Carles Figuerola Casas, professor of the Department of Journalism and Communication Sciences from the Autonomous University of de Barcelona, shows how, through comic, Orient and its main characters have been represented for decades.

The focus will be on the supporting characters who have commonly gone unnoticed in so well-known publications as El Capitán Trueno or El Guerrero del Antifaz and there will be shown.

The exhibition features characters commonly stereotyped as the tyrant, the wise or the Arab warrior, who have made us discover exotic landscapes and cities, the result of the orientalizing fascination of the Arab world which was embodied in comics.

the exhibition will be open until May 16th at the exhibition halls in Casa Árabe in Madrid. Monday to Saturday, 11.00 to 20.00; Sunday and public holiday, 11.00 to 15.00.
