With the cooperation of Casa Árabe, UNRWA Spain is organizing the third edition of these seminar days on the Human Rights-Based Focus (HRBF) in Humanitarian Action, which this year is placing its emphasis on the inclusion of the gender-based perspective in carrying out this type of humanitarian action in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).

The seminar days will be officially opened on the date of November 10 by the General Director of Casa Árabe, Pedro Villena; Raquel Martí, executive director of UNRWA Spain, and a representative of the Secretariat General of International Development Cooperation (SGIDC), which is supporting the project.

With the participation of experts, journalists and organizations that work on these topics within the field of humanitarian action and development cooperation, the seminar days will include sessions on both the theoretical framework and the practical work experiences of the Human Rights and Gender-Based Focus in humanitarian action, analyzing both good practices and the challenges to be faced, in addition to methodologies, tools and case studies, as well as sessions on the OPT’s socio-political and humanitarian context and work groups.

The goal is to provide knowledge and practical tools for the Gender and Human Rights-Based Focuses to improve the quality and effectiveness of the humanitarian action performed by Spanish Cooperation’s role-players. The seminar days will especially highlight the assistance given in long-lasting conflicts and to the refugee population, one of the most vulnerable groups of people in humanitarian situations. The OPT will be the case study on the basis of which a socio-political analysis is completed, with presentations on the different experiences and lessons learned from humanitarian interventions carried out in the Palestinian territories, from gender and human rights-based focuses.

The seminar days are intended for all those people who are professionally or academically involved in humanitarian action and development cooperation in the bodies of the public administration, development NGOs, universities and research centers, as well as university students.
