As part of the Madrid Otra Mirada (MOM) program, on October 16 and 17 we will be giving tours of the former Aguirre Schools, one of the capital’s finest examples of Neo-Mudéjar architecture. Sign up as of October 2 and come visit us.

Casa Árabe’s headquarters is located in the former Aguirre Schools building, one of the finest examples of Neo-Mudéjar architecture. The building was designed by architect Emilio Rodríguez Ayuso, one of the pioneers of the Neo-Mudéjar style, a movement that emerged from the historicist trends of the late nineteenth century. He also co-designed Madrid’s former bullring. The building was constructed in 1884, and three years later the same architect was commissioned to design the gate and garden. The most notable feature of the building is its exposed brick façade, a fine example of how the architects of that era managed to take advantage of patterned ceramics.

The tours will be held on Thursday, October 16 and Friday, October 17 at 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. You can sign up as of October 2 at 10:00 a.m. on the following website: https://mom.reservaspatrimonio.es/

Madrid Otra Mirada (MOM)
is a cultural program organized by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Urban Landscape of the Madrid City Council’s Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports. The thirteenth edition, held from October 16 to 19, will revolve around the theme of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the European Landscape Convention. Locals and visitors alike will be able to visit almost 200 places of interest in terms of heritage, all free of charge, as well as taking part in many other activities.

This has been made by the generous contributions by all the participating public and private institutions. Under the coordination of the Madrid City Council, they have developed an interesting, comprehensive, inclusive and diverse program of activities.

Madrid Otra Mirada (MOM), being a major celebration of our city’s cultural heritage, is also a magnificent example of the cooperation amongst bodies of the public administration, as well as the synergy between the public and private sectors.
