Traditional and contemporary Arab music concert with Arabic oud and percussion. Tickets now on sale.
Egypt’s Hesham Essam and Spain’s David Mayoral, exceptional Arabic oud and percussion performers, respectively, are giving just one concert at Casa Árabe, with a repertoire of traditional and contemporary Arab music. It is a musical event in which the public will be able to enjoy these musicians and their virtuoso performance up-close, while becoming enveloped in the music as they witness the great complicity which both artists display in their live concerts.

Hesham Essam
Despite his youth, Hesham Essam (Cairo, 1983) is already a highly acclaimed Arabic oud player in Egypt. Gifted with an amazing ear and extraordinary technique, he began to play the Arabic oud and receive training on classical Egyptian music at the age of 11. Since then, he has delved further into the various traditions of the Eastern oud from Turkey, Iraq and the Gulf countries, while at the same time diversifying towards other styles such as flamenco, jazz and classical Western music. He has studied with such prestigious masters as Saber Hussein and Abdou Dagher, and he has performed with the Symphonic Orchestra of Egypt, the Cairo Opera Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Algeria and the Eastern jazz group from Egypt El Dor El Awal. Hesham frequently records for movie soundtracks and very popular singers including Shirin Abdel Wahab, Angham, Tamer Ashour and Mohamed Mounir.
David Mayoral
Mayoral is one of the most highly in-demand percussionists in the national music scene. His education began in the field of classical music, with Horacio Icasto and Juanjo Guillem, and he later developed an interest in historical percussion with Pedro Estevan. He has earned great recognition in the field of medieval music, playing around the world and recording with the most prestigious medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music groups, including, Jordi Savall, L’Arpeggiata, Begoña Olavide, Hespèrion XXI and the Kapsberger Ensemble, as well as others. He has also done extensive work in other musical styles, with musicians and groups including Radio Tarifa, Luis Delgado, Shokry Mohamed, Joaquín Ruiz’s flamenco ballet and the Al-Andalus Danza company.
