In Madrid on Wednesday, April 10, Casa Árabe is hosting this seminar
organized by the Spanish International Development Cooperation Agency
(AECID). Registration has now begun.
Spain’s humanitarian action is provided in response to its historical commitment to Palestine, to help the population affected by the crisis there, playing an active role as a donor.
This seminar, organized by the Spanish International Development Cooperation Agency (AECID) at Casa Árabe, is an attempt to analyze the causes and humanitarian consequences of such crises, as well as the scope of the response by Spanish Cooperation, thereby helping give a voice to a population which has fallen victim to a chronic crisis, trapped by a gradual deterioration in their living conditions while remaining hostage to the violence.
The seminar will include the participation of representatives from the most important international organizations and NGOs working in Palestine, which include representatives of the United Nations, the Consortium for Protection in the West Bank (Norwegian Refugee Council), Action Against Hunger, UNRWA, the World Food Program, the MA’AN Development Center, Alianza por la Solidaridad and Doctors of the World (Médicos del Mundo).
It will be officially opened by Pedro Martínez-Avial, the General Director of Casa Árabe, Cristina Gutiérrez Hernández, head of the Humanitarian Action Office of the AECID, and Jamie McGoldrick, a United Nations humanitarian coordinator in Palestine. The meeting will be brought to a close by Aina Calvo Sastre, Director of the AECID, and Eva Martínez, Director General for the Maghreb, Mediterranean and Near East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation.
