CORDOBA
Starting point of the tour: Casa Árabe headquarters (at Calle Samuel de los Santos Gener, 9). 10:00 a.m. Prior registration required.
In Spanish.

We are hosting this themed tour on Saturday, May 17, as part of the Festival of Patios, in which Casa Árabe is participating as a “non-competing patio.” During the tour, we will learn about a number of key female figures in the history of Cordoba and the social, cultural, political and economic contributions they made. SOLD OUT.

The tour, guided by Inmaculada Serrano Hernández, will combine the biographies of these women with the inestimable legacy they left behind: their strides towards equality, turned into indelible marks left behind on Cordoba.

They are all women who stood out as exceptional individuals: Lubna, Shifa, Ayab, Soraya, Muryán, Zayda, Subh Umm Wallad, Tarub, Aixa and Wallada. We will also learn more about several trades held exclusively by women, which were decisive in enriching the city of Cordoba in every realm of life (social, cultural, political, etc.), as these women worked as copyists, secretaries, musician-singers, poets, tailors and weavers, among other trades.

On this occasion, we will be visiting several different places, all linked to the lives of these women, many emblematic sites forming part of our city’s historical heritage. With Casa Árabe as our starting point, we will be visiting the Rey Heredia Cultural Center (former Convent of Santa Clara), Alfayatas Street, the Sabbath Gate and the Caliphate Baths, ending at the Statue of Lovers in the Campo Santo de los Mártires.
