International Congress: Change in Arab World first edition

On December 13th and 14th, the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid hosted this congress. Casa Árabe collaborated with the season ‘The role of the diplomacy in the Arab Spring.’
The scientific objective of this Congress is the study of the events that have been developed since 2011 of the so-called Arab Spring in the Maghreb and the Middle-East countries, offering a wide view on common and specific factors through the different scientific areas. Following this guideline, the Congress was designed with a multidisciplinary approach to fulfil various areas.
The Congress was linked to a research project financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and implemented by the Complutense University of Madrid and the Cairo University. It took place on December 13th and 14th at the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid (Campus Somosaguas, s/n, Pozuelo de Alarcón). To take part in it was required to be registered, for which attendants used the E-Mail addresses congresosfg@rect.ucm.es and CIMAC.I.2012@gmail.com.
Casa Árabe collaborated with the session ‘Diplomacy role in the Arab Spring’ by Ignacio Ybáñez, director general of the Foreign Policy for the Maghreb, Africa, Mediterranean and the Middle East of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Spain; and Eduardo López Busquets, director general of Casa Árabe. The event was conducted by Miguel Ángel Benedicto, chief of the International department at Telemadrid.
