On Friday, April 24, Casa Árabe will be hosting an academic conference on international inter-university cooperation, sustainability and the 2030 Agenda, as part of the cooperation program between the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) and Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakesh (UCA). Sign up to participate!

The event will bring together academic leaders, researchers and university administrators from both institutions so that they may reflect upon the role played by universities as essential actors in addressing major global challenges, ranging from sustainable development and academic mobility to Euro-African and Euro-Arab cooperation in the realm of higher education.

The conference, co-organized by Casa Árabe, Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakesh and the UNED, will be opening with an institutional welcome, then continuing with several round table discussions focused on international inter-university cooperation, the role of international development law, student mobility and knowledge transfer as tools for moving ahead towards more inclusive, sustainable and socially committed university models.

The event will end with a closing conference by Prof. Fatiha Sahli, a professor emeritus of Law at Cadi Ayyad University and a leading researcher in the fields of international cooperation and sustainable development, who will be offering a final reflection on the role of international law from an Arab and historical perspective, as a catalyst for inter-university cooperation to reduce structural asymmetries and strengthen academic dialogue between the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean.

This meeting in Madrid forms part of a broader program of activities taking place throughout the week at the UNED and other academic venues, building upon the joint work initiated by the UNED and Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakesh, thus consolidating a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening university sustainability policies and creating stable cooperation networks among universities around the Mediterranean.

Through this initiative, Casa Árabe is reaffirming its commitment to promoting academic dialogue, institutional cooperation and the sharing of knowledge between Spain and the Arab world, particularly the Maghreb, highlighting the role of higher education as a bridge towards a more sustainable shared future.
