Casa Árabe garden (at Calle Alcalá, 62). 9:00 p.m. Free entry until the event’s capacity is reached.

The group Darawish will be giving this performance, with two special guests, in the Casa Árabe garden in Madrid, on Thursday, September 10.

At Casa Árabe, the group Darawish is giving this concert to present its latest album, Madar, along with Syrian singer Linda Alahmad and Iraqi percussionist Mustafa Sabea.

Traditional Arab and Persian melodic and harmonic modes, such as the maqam, huzam and segah, are all combined in this album to join together peoples of past and present. The result is a very broad-ranging repertoire of compositions based on the heritage of classical music from the Mediterranean and the East, with a special emphasis on Arabic and Persian music, but also added influences from jazz and other modern music harmonies.

Their original compositions, with a more contemporary flair, are enveloped in Arab, Persian and Mediterranean rhythms and harmonies that give them that special feeling that represents the group.

Darawish’s sound seeks to take us on a journey with its music to different regions in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, combining instruments such as the oud, darbuka and ney, alongside other more modern instruments like the saxophone and double bass.

The group made its debut in Madrid in 2013 and since then has given numerous concerts, including those at the International Nights of Ramadan Festival in Madrid and the thirty-sixth Iberian Music Festival in Badajoz.

The members of Darawish are:
•    Hames Bitar: Arabic oud.
•    Pablo Hernández: Alto and soprano saxophone.
•    Luis Taberna: Percussion.
•    Kaveh Sarvarian: Ney, concert flute, tomback and vocals.
•    Fernando Leria: Bass and double bass.
