Casa Árabe and the Diplomatic Mission of Palestine in Spain have organized this commemorative conference.

Casa Árabe and the Diplomatic Mission of Palestine in Spain invite you to a conference by Ahmed Soboh, the director general of the Yasser Arafat Foundation, with the participation of Musa Amer Odeh, the Ambassador of Palestine in Spain, and Pedro Villena, the General Director of Casa Árabe.

Sixty-eight years after the partition of Palestine, the “catastrophe” can be felt more than ever because of its devastating effects: millions of refugees, decades of occupation and the lack of a political solution to the conflict. At the same time, the Nakba and creation of the Israeli state are the result of European projects, and therefore this commemorative date will be used to analyze Europe’s role in terms of a potential solution. Likewise, the speaker will review the current situation in the region and the future prospects.

Ahmed Soboh (Jenin, 1952) has been the director general of the Yasser Arafat Foundation since 2014. Most notable among his diplomatic destinations have been his positions as the Ambassador of Palestine in Morocco (2009-2013), Brazil (1989-1995) and Mexico (1981-1989). He has also been a State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Palestine(2006-2009) and of the Ministry of Information (2003-2009). He was the director general of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (2001-2003) and an assistant director of the PLO Delegation in Spain (1978-1981). He has been a militant in the Fatah Party since 1968 and is a member of its Advisory Committee. He earned his degree in Medicine from the University of Granada in 1977.
