It tells the story of a people in search of their own image and visibility within History. With this screening, Casa Árabe is contributing to the events commemorating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is held each year on November 29.
Also to be shown is Hedi (Inhebek Hedi), a film which recently premiered at commercial cinemas. It is the first feature film by Tunisian director Mohamed Ben Attia. The film was produced by the Dardenne brothers and earned the Award for Best First Film and the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the last Berlin Film Festival. Hedi gives us the chance to witness the reality of today’s Tunisia through the story of its main character, between tradition and modernity.

The film’s introduction will be given by Ahmad Natche, a Spanish-Palestinian filmmaker and editor.Directed by Mohanad Yaqubi (Palestine, France, Qatar, Lebanon, 2016, 62 min.) Documentary.
Off Frame AKA Revolution Until Victory is a reflection which has taken place as a result of the Palestinian people’s fight to create their own image and create a self-portrayal of themselves in the sixties and seventies, based on the creation of the Palestinian Cinema Unit as part of the PLO.
After dusting off movies stored in archives around the world and carrying out research work with access to unprecedented documentary collections, the film begins with portrayals of modern Palestine, later tracing through the work of movie directors who, in their day, claimed the right to their own image and narrative through revolutionary, militant cinema. By bringing back the lost memory of this struggle, “Off Frame” revives what is seen in each frame, while also performing a critical reflection on the search for what was left outside of the camera’s view.
About Ahmad Natche
With a university degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Seville, and a specialization in film editing from the International Cinema and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, Natche directed his first feature film, Metran men hada al-tarab (Two Meters from this Earth) in 2012. He was a curator for the Palestinian Movie Marathon organized by Casa Árabe on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Nakba.

Hedi is a simple guy: he doesn’t speak much, doesn’t have a strong personality and doesn’t expect much from a life he already has mapped out. Indifferent to everything around him, he accepts things the way they are: he lets his authoritarian, domineering mother organize his marriage with Khedija; he lets his boss send him to the city of Mahdia the week of his wedding, and he lets his older brother Ahmed, who has come back from France to attend the wedding, tell him how he is supposed to behave. In Mahdia he meets Rym, a member of the entertainment staff at a beachside hotel where increasingly fewer tourists are coming to stay. Hedi feels attracted by her carefree spirit and freedom, and the two end up living a passionate adventure. However, the wedding preparations follow their course, and Hedi is forced to make a choice.
