"On a Journey: Spanish Architecture in the Arab World" in Valencia
From October 04, 2013 until November 08, 2013
Valencia’s Territorial Association of Architects (CTAV) will be hosting our exhibition from Tuesday, October 1 through November 8, 2013. Organized with the cooperation of the Superior Council of Architects’ Associations of Spain (CSCAE), it is an exhibition of projects by Spanish architecture firms and studios carried out in Arab countries
The work performed by architectural studios and by Spanish architecture firms and studios in Arab countries provide an excellent example of the successful work towards internationalization which is making a huge contribution to consolidating and positioning the Spain brand abroad, and more specifically in the Arab world. The projects highlighted in this exhibition are the result of very thorough, constant work carried out over a long period of time, which is now beginning to bear its fruits thanks to the industry’s excellence and its high-quality services.
In this exhibition, you will be able to view projects by well-known architectural studios such as Nieto Sobejano, Fenwick Irribarren, Lamela, César Ruiz Larrea, Rafael de la Hoz and Campo Baeza, alongside another series of younger studios which have make a commitment to globalization in the Arab world, as is the case of AGi Architects, Hadit and AV62. Also represented are some of the most important Spanish engineering firms: Alatec, Sener, Idom and TYPSA, all of which have had a presence in the Arab world for several decades.
Although this relationship between our architecture and the Arab world goes far back in time, today it is taking on special relevance due to the economic environment we are currently living in. This exhibition not only intends to provide acknowledgment for the work done by our professionals abroad, upholding such important values as competitiveness and creativity, but is also meant to draw attention to the potential held by the regions of North Africa and the Middle East for architecture professionals.
At the exhibition website you will find all of the details on the projects.
The exhibit can be seen at Calle Hernán Cortés, 6, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and on Thursday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Free entrance.
This traveling exhibition has been made possible with the cooperation of Valencia’s Territorial Association of Architects (CTAV), Casa Mediterráneo, the Instituto Cervantes and Tecniberia.
