"Orient Breezes. Spanish Commercial poster (1870-1970)"

From March 28, 2011 until October 16, 2011

This exhibition compiles up to a hundred of commercial posters from the period which are related to the attraction and fascination of the Arab Orient as a publicity lure.

It is a representative selection of one of the lesser known areas of the romantic Orientalism applied to commercial publicity, particularly to our unique Al-Andalus Orient which enjoys a special central position.

The exhibition shows original pieces from 1871 to 1964, which make closer the aesthetics of the period through some trade marks which today are still well known: beauty products, food, drinks, North African tourism, etc. And in all of them, the Oriental world is that fantastic place where publicity brings us to.

On April 8th, the exhibition opening took place at Casa Árabe’s headquarter in Madrid (c/ Alcalá, 62) at 19.30. Free entrance.

The exhibition will be opened until October 16th from Monday to Saturday, from 11.00 to 20.00, and Sunday and holidays from 11.00 to 15.00.
