Palestine and Israel: the future of the two-State solution

On Thursday November 29th, on the event of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Casa Árabe and the Diplomatic Mission of Palestine to Spain organized a lecture in Madrid.
Mr. Manuel Hassassian, Ambassador of Palestine to the United Kingdom, gave the lecture, once having been introduced by Musa Amer Odeh, Ambassador of Palestine to Spain, and by Eduardo López Buquets, director general of Casa Árabe.
The event took place at 19.30 at Casa Árabe’s Auditorium in Madrid (c/Alcalá 62). Free entrance limited by space availability.
Professor Hassassian served as the Executive Vice President of Bethlehem University. In November 2005 Prof. Hassassian was assigned as the Ambassador of the Palestinian General Delegation to the United Kingdom. His areas of specialization are: comparative politics with emphasis on Middle East politics and Armenian nationalist movement. Professor Hassassian is a member of the editorial board of the Arab Political Science Journal as well as the Palestine-Israel Journal, in addition he has also published in academic journals on the PLO, the peace process, democracy and elections, refugees and civil society in Palestine.
Furthermore, he is also a member of the Center of Non-Violence, in Palestine, as well as from the Arab Association for Human Rights. He has also taken part in several diplomatic initiatives and negotiations within the peace process framework, including the post of head of the Jerusalem Task Force. He had been visiting scholar to many universities, lecturing on models and practices of conflict resolution and management in different international meetings where he has taken part in the last decade. Currently he serves as the Palestinian Territories' diplomatic representative to the United Kingdom after being appointed to his position in late 2005.
Apart from this speech, Casa Árabe hosted the screening of the feature film Ford Transit, by Hany Abu Assad, on Friday November 30th, included in the 3rd Edition of the Palestinian Film Festival in Madrid.
