On Tuesday, November 29, the CIDEAL Foundation and Casa Árabe have organized this conference in Cordoba with the support of the Spanish International Cooperation Agency (AECID). You may now register to attend.

This initiative forms part of the program Shabab Mutasamih (“Tolerant Youth”), carried out by CIDEAL with the financial support of the Spanish International Development Cooperation Agency (AECID).

The purpose of this activity is to raise awareness in Spanish society about the importance of social/work integration as a strategy to prevent violent radicalization, creating a greater understanding of the narratives, processes and psychosocial factors existing in violent radicalization processes, describing some experiences of interest in preventing radicalization from a social/work perspective while highlighting the role that international development cooperation can play in their implementation.

The program begins at 10:00 a.m. with words of welcome by the representatives of Casa Árabe and CIDEAL, to be followed by a conference titled ”Understanding Violent Radicalization Processes: Needs, narratives and networks” given by Manuel Moyano, a professor of Psychology at the University of Cordoba. A debate will be held thereafter.

Once the coffee break at 11:30 a.m. is over, we will begin a round table discussion on “Strategies for the prevention of radicalization through social/work initiatives,” with the participation of Nora Bouhorma, coordinator of the AECID Agreement in Morocco (Shabab Mutasamih Project), Ahmed Khalifa, president of the Moroccan Association for the Integration of Immigrants and a representative of the Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN). The session will be moderated by Karim Hauser, Casa Árabe’s International Relations Coordinator.
