On Friday 22nd Casa Árabe will screen After the Battle, by Raja Amari. Tickets on sale for internet from only 2 euros.
The films to be screened are Buried Secrets, the latest film by Raja Amari, director of the acclaimed Red Satin. Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid will host the preview in Spain of The Attack, by Ziad Doueiri, which was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the latest San Sebastian International Film Festival. Premieres included in the program are After the Battle, the most recent feature film by Yousry Nasrallah, director of Scheherazade Tell Me a Story.
Films are to be showed at Casa Árabe’s Auditorium in Madrid (c/ Alcalá, 62) at 19.30. Original version with subtitles in Spanish.
Tickets: 3 euros general price on the ticket office. 2 euros for Internet tickets, people officially unemployed, students of the Arabic Language Centre at Casa Árabe, and those holding Carné Joven. It is required to show credentials in order the discount to be applied. Discounts can not be combined. Advance sale under this page or the very same day of the screening -at Casa Árabe’s headquarters-, an hour before the screening.
Buried Secrets, by Raja Amari (France, Swaziland, Tunisia, 2009, 91 minutes).
A mother and her two daughters, Aicha and Radia, are trapped in the domestic servants’ area of a large estate when the young couple that inherited the property unexpectedly moves in upstairs. A bizarre cohabitation between the couple and the three women starts. A game of cat and mouse ensues as the youngest daughter, Aicha, overwhelmed by curiosity, crosses the divide between these separated spheres and threatens the safety of her family's hideout.
This film has been awarded at the Arte Mare Festival in Bastia (France), at the Arab Film Rotterdam, at the Valencia Festival of Mediterranean Cinema and at the Milan Film Festival.
This screening takes place thanks to the collaboration of the African Film Festival of Cordoba – FCAT.
The Attack, by Ziad Doueiri (Lebanon, France, Qatar and Belgium, 2012, 95 min.).
Amin Jaafari is an Israeli-Palestinian surgeon in Tel Aviv with a picture-perfect life: a happy marriage, a brilliant career and several Jewish friends. His life is turned upside down when he is told by the police that his wife, who was killed in a suicide bombing, was also the person responsible for the attack which caused 19 deaths. He rejects their accusation, but his conviction is shaken when he receives a posthumous letter from her confirming her role.
This screening can take place due to the collaboration of ALTA FILMS.

Mahmoud is one of the “Tahrir square knights” who, on 2nd February 2011, charged against the young revolutionaries. Beaten, humiliated, unemployed, ostracised in his neighbourhood near the Pyramids, Mahmoud and his family are losing their footing… It is then that he meets Reem, a young Egyptian divorcee, modern and secular, who works in advertising. Reem is a militant revolutionary and lives in a nice neighbourhood in Cairo. Their meeting will change their lives.
On the Official Selection Competition of the Festival de Cannes 2012.
