Presentation about The Art of India

From November 25, 2013 until December 09, 2013

Casa Árabe and Casa Asia are presenting this event, which will be taking place on Monday, December 2 at our headquarters in Madrid. This encounter is being organized on the occasion of the recent publication of the book El arte de India (The Art of India, Editorial Akal, 2013) by Eva Fernández del Campo. Taking part in the presentation, in addition to the author, is the work’s publisher, Jesús Espino, and Asian art historian Carmen García Ormaechea. Also participating in the event are Eduardo López Busquets, the Director of Casa Árabe, and Teresa Gutiérrez del Álamo, Program Director of the Casa Asia Center in Madrid.

From Neolithic civilizations to the figure of Anish Kapoor, the art of India shows us a panorama of wealth and variety far beyond any stereotype. A melting pot of cultures and religions, its contributions have formed a collection of amazing character across more than three millennia, constituting one of the milestones in mankind’s history.

Eva Fernández del Campo, a well-known specialist on Asian art, is offering the first, and very ambitious, written overview of artistic creation in India to be written in Spanish, through her work in The Art of India. It is handbook which provides guidance for study and an itinerary that can be used by travelers and lovers of this civilization who wish to take a closer look at its forms of artistic expression and way of understanding the world.

The event is taking place at 7:00 p.m. in our auditorium (at Calle Alcalá, 62). Free entry until the event’s capacity is reached.
