On Tuesday, October 11, the Cervantes Institute in Madrid, LaLiga and Casa Árabe have organized this meeting which combines literature and football.

The event will be a sort of “fan gathering” prior to the match to be held on November 22, as part of the Frankfurt Book Fair, whose special guest country is Spain this year, between the Spanish team of writers and journalists known as “Los Cervantinos” and the German team.

Introducing the event will be Luis García Montero, Director of the Cervantes Institute. The General Director of Casa Árabe, Irene Lozano, and LaLiga’s Director for International Development, Octavi Anoro, will be discussing the values of sports and the activities forming part of the “Football for Hope” program, held at the initiative of Casa Árabe to mark the World Cup in Qatar.

After this, the writers will read an excerpt from a work that involves soccer and encourages the many fans of this sport to read it. The reading will be performed by Miguel Aguilar, editor; Nuria Labari, writer and journalist; Enrique Ballester, writer and journalist; Emilio Sánchez Mediavilla, editor and writer; and Alex Prada, writer. Afterwards, a discussion will be held with the participants.

The activity will be broadcast live on the Cervantes Institute’s web channel.
