.
In “Això era casa meva” (“This Was My House”), Gabriel Garroum, a Syrian-Catalan political scientist, returns to Syria after seven years of war. On his trip, he explores the largest two cities in the country: Damascus, the capital, and Aleppo, his father’s home town. We get the chance to learn about experiences during the war through testimony given by the country’s inhabitants and members of his family. Through Gabriel’s own analysis, these experiences allow us to discover how violence and the material destruction of a space transforms people’s identity. After the screening of this documentary, a round table discussion will be held.
