The presentation of issue 15 of Awraq will include interventions by Kristina Kausch, a senior researcher with The German Marshall Fund of the United States; Miguel Hernando de Larramendi, tenured professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, and Karim Hauser, Casa Árabe’s International Politics Coordinator. The event will be presented by Pedro Martínez-Avial, the General Director of Casa Árabe.
Issue number 15 of Awraq: Journal of analysis and thought on the contemporary Arab and Islamic world deals with major problems which have arisen over the last decade in Arab countries, from a wide range of perspectives. Produced as a result of the International Forum held in April 2017, on the occasion of Casa Árabe’s Tenth Anniversary, this special edition of Awraq analyzes the structure and situation in political, economic and social realms which make it possible to understand the current transformations taking place. The speakers will be discussing three main topics from this issue of the journal: Kristina Kausch will be talking about the chapter on non-State role-players in the region, Miguel Hernando de Larramendi will comment on an article by Salwa Hamrouni about Tunisia, and Karim Hauser, who coordinated this issue of Awraq, will be dealing with the chapter by Marwan Kraidy about the media.
