In collaboration with Casa Árabe, “Eco de España en Árabe” is organizing
the presentation of this group work in Madrid on Wednesday, November 2,
at an event that will be attended by several of its authors.
“Spain as Seen by the Arabs” is a collective book co-authored by a group of ambassadors, writers and intellectuals, mostly Arabs, who discuss their experience and viewpoints on Spain. The event will include the participation of Bashar Yaghi, former Ambassador of the Arab League in Spain, and honorary president of Eco de España en Árabe; Rola Fares, a writer and the Director of External Relations of Eco de España en Árabe, and Cristina Juarranz, Casa Árabe’s Management Assistant and Programming Coordinator. This book constitutes a unique experience of joint work, the drafting and coordination of which was overseen by Rola Fares Dia and Fadi Salfeti, the president of Eco de España en Árabe, who will also be taking part in the event.
The authors include, in alphabetical order: Bahira Abdulatif Yasin, writer, translator and scholar; Marwan Burini, Palestinian ambassador to El Salvador; Shereen Dagani Atwan, a show host for RTVE’s Arab Section in Foreign Broadcasting; Reem Khalifa, a Bahraini writer and journalist; Hassan Khalil Dia, a former Paraguayan ambassador to Lebanon; Pedro Martínez-Avial Martín, a former director of Casa Árabe and Spain’s current ambassador to Iraq; Rachida Muhammadi, a poet, translator and scholar; Adel Mustafa Kamel, a former Iraqi ambassador to Spain and the current ambassador to Portugal; Hanan Saleh Hussein, an associate professor at the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville; Ghassan Saliba, president of the Associació Catalunya-Liban; Fadi Salfeti, president of Eco de España en Árabe; Abdo Tounsi, President of the Intercultural Spanish-Arab Circle (CIHAR), and Bashar Yaghi, a former Ambassador of the League of Arab States in Spain and Honorary President of Eco de España en Árabe.
