On Monday, February 23, our headquarters in Cordoba will be hosting the presentation of these video podcasts created by the students taking part in the European Erasmus + Mosaic program. Come listen to them!
The presentation of this event will include participation by Elena Calvo, from the association Algarabía Cultural, and Rosa Illanes, a professor at the Mateo Inurria Higher Art and Design School. Carmen González, a professor at the University of Cordoba, will be participating remotely to greet the students.
The project MOSAIC - Mediterranean Outreach: Strengthening Arab Identity and Culture, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, promotes the awareness and appreciation of Arab heritage in Europe, as well as cultural diversity and the development of digital and creative skills among young people from different backgrounds. Run by Amal for Education (Italy), with the cooperation of AIYD (Turkey), Casa Árabe (Spain) and Generation Change (Malta), the project fosters intercultural and intergenerational dialogue through art and technology, celebrating a common, diverse, truly vibrant heritage across the Mediterranean.
At this edition, around thirty young people participated in an intensive program of creative workshops and educational tours in Cordoba, where they had the opportunity to discover the historical and symbolic richness of heritage from Al-Andalus. These youths explored the living presence of Al-Andalus in the city, reinterpreting their surroundings through drawing, photography and digital tools. The experience allowed them to approach the heritage of Al-Andalus from a creative and contemporary perspective, strengthening intercultural dialogue and inclusiveness, while shaping new personal and collective narratives that connect past with present.
The project culminated with the recording of a series of video podcasts, in which the participants reflected on the conclusions and thoughts that arose from this creative process. The presentation of these materials at the Casa Árabe headquarters in Cordoba on February 23 provided a meeting place to share and discuss the results and lessons learned from MOSAIC.
The video podcasts are available on Casa Árabe’s Youtube channel.
