Rasha’s musical style is a fascinating amalgamation reflecting the cultural diversity that has nourished him during his long professional career. The age-old musical traditions from Nubian culture, the rhythms of Central Sudan, the “tom-tom” sounds of the African Sahel, all blend with the chords of pop, jazz, Afrobeat and even flamenco. It is a mosaic of sounds which breathes life into a new, unique and different style, still deeply rooted in Sudan’s culture. Although she sings mainly in Arabic -her native language- Rasha also performs in English, Spanish, Nubian and Creole. This polyphonic multilingualism has led her to perform in many countries around the world. Together with her four-piece band, great professionals from Madrid’s music scene, Rasha will be bringing her magic to Casa Árabe’s outdoor area.

Rasha Sheikh Eldin (Sudan, 1971) is a uniquely talented Sudanese singer, musician and songwriter. With over 25 years in the world music scene, it is in Spain where she has achieved the greatest renown, with the release of the album “Sudaniyat,” named by the editor of the famous magazinefRoots, Ian Anderson, one of the ten best of 1997. In 2000, Rasha released another major hit record, “Let Me Be,” which was praised in “The Rough Guide to World Music.” Rasha has collaborated with internationally renowned artists. She took part in the album La Banda Negra (2000) with other African performers based in Madrid, including Wafir, her brother (and former member of the rock band Radio Tarifa), as well as also the late Bidinte. She also participated in the Refugee Voices festival in Geneva to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the UNHCR, alongside great artists such as Youssou N’Dour, K’naan and Geoffrey Oryema.
