documentary film produced by Isabel Coixet, and a candidate for the Goya
Awards. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film’s

Thousands of people have crossed the Mediterranean in recent years in the attempt to reach Europe. Through a mysterious voice from the bottom of the sea, “Wet Letters” tells the most tragic epic tale in our contemporary history. Using letters written from mothers to their children, the narrator’s voice follows the boat run by the NGO Open Arms on its most dramatic mission, struggling to save 550 people from a sinking vessel. It then takes viewers to the streets of Paris, where police violence against migrants can be compared with the efforts made to reach Europe. Forgetting that this is a true story, the situation worsens when the film takes us aboard a Libyan coast guard ship, in the most dangerous place in the world, where human beings are mistreated and enslaved.
