For yet another year, Casa Árabe is sponsoring the SEEA Awards for new
researchers, to be held within the framework of the twenty-fourth
symposium of the Spanish Society of Arab Studies. The meeting will be
held in Malaga from November 10 to 12.
On Saturday, November 11, Javier Rosón, an expert on Islamic studies and editor of the Awraq journal published by Casa Árabe, will be presiding over the presentation of the research projects by the selected finalists:
• Ana IRIARTE DÍEZ (American University of Beirut/Universidad Autónoma de Madrid): “Motivation in the learning of Arabic as a foreign language among Spanish university students.”
• Belén Mariana MONTERO (University of Granada/Malaga): “Wa-lā gālib illā allāh: A Ceuta daily as a model for the Arab press in Morocco. Study and publication.”
• Paola LUQUE VARGAS (University of Granada): “Documentary records of Nasrid families: The Banū Bannīgaš.”
The symposium will include seven sections:
SESSION 1: Culture of Al-Andalus.
SESSION 2: Perspectives from Arab studies: Publications.
SESSIONS 3: Malaga and Arab Culture.
SESSION 4: The SEEA Award.
SESSION 5: Perspectives from Arab studies: Publications and WOCMES.
SESSIONS 6: Literary Translation Award of 2017.
SESSION 7: Rethinking and remaking the teaching of Arabic.
