at its headquarters in Cordoba. Organized by Michigan State University
(MSU), it will focus on the cultural, architectural and religious ties
between the Maghreb and Al-Andalus.
The international congress ”A Tale of Two Shores: Faith, Architecture, and Mobility in the Maghrib and al-Andalus” aims to explore the cultural, architectural and religious ties between the Maghrib and Al-Andalus. This scientific gathering forms part of the research project Science, Art, and Faith: Architectural Heritage and Islam, financed by the Templeton Religious Trust and directed by Michigan State University (MSU).
Arranged by Dr. Mohammad Khalil (MSU) and Dr. Rafael Blanco (University of Cordoba), its purpose is to connect historical research with current debates on cultural heritage, thus highlighting the interaction between architecture, mobility and religious practice in the Mediterranean.
Experts from the Maghreb and Iberian Peninsula will share their outlooks, analyzing the relations between the Western Muslim world, the Iberian Christian kingdoms and their subsequent projection towards the Americas.
