The Center for Middle East Studies (CEMO) of the Fundación Promoción Social has organized this seminar, which will deal with the topic from a cooperation-based focus. You can sign up now.

The seminar deals with the status of Palestinian women in rural areas, the challenges which they face and the need to promote sustainable rural development models that protect the environment, with a rights and gender-based focus that furthers women’s empowerment in their communities, the improvement of their socio-economic level and their capabilities in business and institutions by including them in the production process equitably.

Organized by the Center for Middle East Studies (CEMO) of the Fundación Promoción Social, with the cooperation of the AECID and Casa Árabe, the seminar will consist of an opening round table discussion on the status of Palestinian women, with two sessions taking place during one morning. At the first session, three international experts will debate the main challenges faced by Palestinian women, especially in rural areas. At the second session, the panel will analyze potential measures which promote women’s empowerment and equal opportunities in rural parts of Palestine.

This seminar is one of the activities held to raise awareness within the framework of the four-year agreement which the Fundación Promoción Social is implementing in the West Bank. That program has been financed by the Spanish International Development Cooperation Agency (AECID). The agreement promotes sustainable, equitable rural development in the West Bank, including the use and responsible management of land and water resources among small and medium-sized farm owners.
