Summer course "Romanization and Islamization in the Western Mediterranean"
From March 01, 2021 until June 17, 2021The course would take place from July 19th to 23th of the same month, from Monday to Friday 9:00-19:30.

POSTPONED. Experts from
multiple international and national academic institutions would lead a
selected group of students through the exciting history of the
romanization and islamization of the Western Meditenarrean over the
course of a week. The courses would be taught in English.
The fourth edition of this summer intensive course, taught in English, is hosted and organized by Casa Árabe, the Center for Comparative Empire and Transcultural Studies (RomanIslam) and the University of Hamburg – In collaboration with Junta de Andalucía and the Archeological Complex of Medina Azahara, under the leadership of Sabine Panzram (University of Hamburg) and Alejandro García-Sanjuán (University of Huelva) – would take place from Monday, July 19th to Thursday, July 22nd in Casa Árabe Córdoba´s head office, with the exception of the class of July 23rd that would take place in the Umayyad palatine city of Medina Azahara.
The course would be concluded with two archeological workshops, Tuesday and Thursday in the morning, and a visit to the Archeological Complex of Medina Azahara. The course is planned to have a length of 34h during school days in a schedule of Monday-Friday from 9 to 19:30.
LODGING AND MEALS (In-person modality)
Coffee will be provided in the morning breaks and the fee includes as well a welcome reception and a dinner on Thursday. Students should arrange for the rest of their meals and lodging. Córdoba has many hotels and restaurants. A selection of the different options available around Casa Árabe will be provided upon registration.
APPLICATION AND FEE
Those interested are requested to send an e-mail message to infocordoba@casaarabe.es, indicating in the message subject line: Intensive Summer Course Al-Andalus IV (On-line modality or in-person one, depending of what teaching modality do the students prefer). They need to provide a brief introduction about the candidate’s profile, including first and last names (maximum 300 words), and a letter expressing their interest in the course. The deadline is extended to June, 25th 2021. Those 25 (In-person modality) y 25 (On-line modality) selected will be contacted by June 28th 2021.
Once confirmation of admittance is received, registration must be completed using the application form that will be sent. The fee for the course is 300 € in-person modality and 200€ on-line modality.
