On Thursday, April 16, Casa Árabe will be hosting the opening event for the second edition of the ESMAR Spanish-Moroccan Cultural Festival, organized by the Malakat Information and Communication Association (ACMIC). This year its slogan is “When dialogue flourishes, identities are enriched.” Come join us!

The ESMAR Festival is a pioneering cultural initiative that embodies the depth of the ties uniting Morocco and Spain. Similarly, it reflects the shared desire to strengthen the channels of understanding, dialogue and cooperation between both peoples.

ESMAR is an abbreviation of the names of Spain and Morocco (in Spanish). All at once, it evokes the sea of historical, cultural, human and economic ties—including those already established and those constantly evolving. This festival was created with the goal of serving as a platform for dialogue and exchange, as well as providing a space to highlight the principles of co-existence and mutual understanding between Moroccans and Spaniards.

ESMAR provides an opportunity to acknowledge the values which unite the two countries and highlight the role played by Spaniards and Moroccans, including both women and men, in enriching business, academic, economic, social and cultural experiences of common interest to the two nations. The festival gives a special place to the voices of young Spanish-Moroccans seeking to express and reaffirm their active role in Spanish society.

Following the festival’s opening at Casa Árabe on April 16, the activities will continue on April 17 and 18 at other venues such as the Casino de la Reina and the Events Palace in Fuenlabrada.
