The Arab city formation
From October 01, 2013 until October 31, 2013
Tuesday October 16, architect Félix Benito Martín will give a speech in Madrid on "Arab City Formation. Its Role in the History of Urbanism".
Benito Martín, chair professor of Urbanism and Territorial Distribution, will expose the peculiarities of an Islamic city and will give us a tour around the first cities which arose in the Middle East, heirs of the urban Roman civilization.
He will focus specially on the Arab cities within the Iberian Peninsula, those with Arab origins, such as Cordoba, Granada, Toledo and many others which, later on, were transformed into Catholic ones, with their peculiar superpositions. Those special characteristics make them an exceptional chapter of the history of the city on a global scale.
The speech will take place at Casa Árabe’s Auditorium in Madrid, at 19.30. Free entrance.
