Daniel Williams, a journalist and former head researcher for Human Rights Watch, will be giving this conference in Madrid.
The event will be presented by Pedro Martínez-Avial, the General Director of Casa Árabe.
In the Middle East, war and intolerance practiced by radical Jihadist groups are decimating the population, causing a major humanitarian crisis that has particularly affected Christian communities. The violence and killings have forced many Christian communities to emigrate in order to survive.
The persecution of Christians forms part of a terrorist strategy which stretches beyond just this region. Western powers, with their recent intervention in the war, have partly contributed to stirring up sectarian hatred, the consequences of which are deplorable. The potential disappearance of Christians from the Middle East would constitute an irreparable cultural, social and economic loss which the Arab countries should not allow. Daniel Williams will be speaking about all of these topics at the conference.
